when you are gone what will I do I could write you a sad song but we know it could not take away the end we could not take back the things we did because we don't know where it went wrong I miss us, I miss him what's he doin' now? here we are alone at night at the longest and darkest hours of our life we are apart, and know we feel the same we are empty and lost our hearts are gone, our souls devoid of life we are dead, we are dead inside what's to keep us from dying on the outside Is she treating you right are you happy with your children do you see me when you see your kids laughing do you think about me late at night with the door closed, crying alone in a room what do you have to do to hide the pain though we have moved on and found some one else we are alone, with out each other we lost that rock, our strength our selves here we are alone at night at the longest and darkest hours of our life we are apart, and know we feel the same we are empty and lost our hearts are gone, our souls devoid of life we are dead, we are dead inside what's to keep us from dying on the outside I can't help but hope that her mind is on me does she sob herself to sleep at night the man she's with, better treat her right god help me if he raises his voice or his hand to her I'll hunt that sonofabitch and take him to hell she was mine and I had her how and why did I let her slip through my hands and out of my life? I miss her here we are alone at night at the longest and darkest hours of our life we are apart, and know we feel the same we are empty and lost our hearts are gone, our souls devoid of life we are dead, we are dead inside what's to keep us from dying on the outside I took a razor and put it to my veins you took some pills and put them to your lips we said good bye to the world, good bye to the pain we surrendered to weakness we were living a life of suffering we were dead before our lives were over we did not have the strength to keep going on to keep waking up, to keep breathing life meant nothing with out each other, with out an us we gave in, we crumbled they found us miles apart, but at the same time folks knew why we took our lives we should have been together something felt wrong about living a life where there was no us a life with out you and me, each other just inspired by a song, no literal meaning that I wish to harm myself or others.
