for my dames still friends in spite of dousing the flames i hope our new year's promise refuses to fade no resolutions, just love to carry us on never worrying where we're at till it's all gone so when the ball drops prompt and heads turn to lock gaze time will go slow mo, freeze-framing the last page i'll try to write a new chapter remembering your name players take to the field, it's time for the game

Not in the purest sense Free Verse. It feels forced at times, perhaps running the theme through different forms and changing the rhyme scheme could strengthen it.
