I'm miles from home, I'm hurting, I'm in a cafe, and I write. I write.

Professor, It is with great pleasure that I crown you with a well deserved -10- for this one. It is very well crafted and as funny as hell. I gotta give you your props Professor because you do have a nice touch with words...pretty good sense of humor too. But I must say, for a chap who did not want to engage me you you've spent quite a bit of time the past two days responding to my comments on the gay marriage issue and, apparently, reading some of the work I've posted here. Got my hooks in ya huh? I was very close to being on the money about you wasn't I? Ok I wasn't totally correct.....I thought you were a student trying to impress his professor when you are actually a college professor trying to.....well I haven't figured that out yet. When I was a student in college I was heavily influenced by some very liberal professors who stood my view of the world on its head. Fortunately, I returned to my senses after about one month pounding the pavement in NYC and getting back to my roots in Brooklyn. My experience with professors at graduate school was more adversarial in nature. I was a bit older, more "worldly", and consequently less acquiescent to their liberal anti-American dogma. So I can smell a professor from a mile away. In spite of my disagreements with you Zodiac I do sense that you are a heck of a nice guy. Peace to you and your family. Joe-joe By the way…time will bear out my position on the gay marriage issue and OF COURSE procreation lies at the center of the institution of marriage.

Is not too bad, really. I hesitate slightly at some of the rhymes (arrive and alive) in particular and a couple grammar issues (...essay fast - fast wants to be an adverb and is not) - and I'm usually pretty easy going with that kind of thing in poetry. It does a nice job at conveying the loss

A nicely done character vignette. moulinet? Are you using it like a verb as in he swung his arm around (as if it were a sword)? Prolly could do without the diluting effect of "all over" and "Navarra" I know Hemingway and Michener refer to it, but I assoiciate it with a region in spain... a place where the capital is Pamplona... where they run the bulls! Do you mean it like a Pamplonan Bull???

I wonder if the failure rate for gay marriages will be as high as the old kind? What's the rate now - 65% failure? Marriage is a broken institution that evolution hasn't bred us to support; it literaly goes against our nature - and the planet has enough fricken offspring, so I'm not at all worried about Ken and Bob. I welcome them and society should encourage any system modifications to support them. I would think most who seek gay marriages would pay a premium, either in taxes or some other social trick, for the priviledge. I'm surprised the idea isn't exploited to a larger extent. Having said that, this is a cute, if meaningless, ditty. Spurred some good conversation too.

This is a place to share poetry and get feedback, not a place to voice your teenage problems that seem so big to you now. Get a counselor or something.

re: "It still seems a little ambiguous to my brain glandes. What if the pursuit of your own happiness conflicts with your allowing others to pursue happiness after their own fashion? Should you just pursue your own happiness regardless? Or should you compromise your own happiness in order to allow another to pursue their own happiness?" - Concern for another's happiness is an admirable goal, and I'd recommend it to anyone. But since you cannot know with any certainty that the person you are attempting to make happy is, in fact, happier for your efforts, you would be wiser (from a purely mathematical standpoint) to consider your own happiness (of which you can be reasonably certain) first, and theirs second. Does that help?

I find it funny that 'Oej-Oej' is 'Jeo-Jeo' spelled backwards.

There is no marriage like a gay marriage, and a gay marriage is no marriage at all. (For now being)

Guys, guys, look at what we've become. Never before has so much guff been defecated on one poeme. We all have something to be ashamed about, some more than others, and my overall impression at having soiled myself in this debate is one of indescribable disgust at Joe-joe's use of the mouth-plum: "like all your arguements this one too is baseless and without merit". In short, the opinions expressed on this page can only be described as "pig ignorant", "stultifyingly ill-informed" and "bow'ls". Apart from my opinions, which were excellent.
