Overall an intereting take on what so many have such a powerful position of opinion in. I liked the second and third stanzas best, but don't think I'd try and change anything about the others. The imagery is too strong to risk altering in even the slightest way.

I thought this poem portrayed the meaning very well....It's pretty obvious you're talking about your feelings, 'But I've learned to black out the sky'--Meaning you are holding back and forgetting, almost like one pushes into the darkness of their mind "pain".
This is how I found the poem to be...Maybe a little easily read for me. I mean it has a nice forefront but the inner being of it has been said a million times by other poets. The idea wasn't very original.
Over all though I liked it

That is the second time in a few days I have heard the word palimpsest and the second time ever. Quite good, I would say you could always beef up the more prosaic lines. I Like 'lacking melody' for super-old people.

Why did you delete your recent poem. I hope you did not change your mind because of something I said.

I'm not into borrowing Gods. I worship the great outdoors and this wonderful world, which evolved over time for us to live in and enjoy.

Thanks Dovina with the mystic name, I admire your lack of cynicism, but regret that Decline and Fall failed to register as a metaphor for the corrupt and corruption all around us. For Zoo Keepers read politicians.

Too deep and numerical for me. As a sculptor my poems are rendered in stone with a mallet and chisel, it's the only way they stay immortal and the exercise keeps me fit and so patient.

I think you should
make that last line a thing to expose

Reminds of TS Eliot "The Wasteland." Lots of mythology and language to dissect. I get maybe half of it, and that in fragments.

Some of the verbs seem wrongly tensed. Verse 4, for example, try "I would kiss you"
Line 6 has a problem.

I will never take to free verse, must be my age, give me a good old fashioned rhyming poem any day. Yet, never too late, must try. One thing I would like to see, a 'tumulous' ocean with an 'o'.

A weak idea, weakly developed. This is not your best. The rhymes do not help. As much as I've criticized your vagueness, I'd rather have it over this.

This is a reminder to all of us that love is a four letter word which must be used frequently, without qualification. It is the poem we all love to hear. This poem reached me and I'm old and cynical. Well done.

Dovina, I was unaware I had deleted comments on Decline and Fall, must have been the devil in me. Re The Drop I prefer my ending its the only time I get a commended.

Creative and unique. I'm tempted to say this poem wasn't my style, but Iâm reserved at saying that too. I've never came across a mathematical poem before. It is as I had mentioned before very unique......

As a whole, your way with originality is unbelievable. The letter idea was a wonderful expression and did carry a mirrorish type feel.
