These comments are the only comments worth reading.

I suggest that the two users in question keep copies of all their comments on disk.

In the event that a particular comment is deleted, the original should be retrived from the disk and submitted to the suggestions board.

This would enhance greatly the pleasure I derive from this website.

Alternatively, I suggest that each page contain a box named "Show deleted comments" which, when clicked, would reveal all the deleted comments, which would be shown in red type so as to distinguish them from the non-deleted comments.
