In my experience, people who think they've had some sort amazing brainwave when they come up with the idea of making art out of everyday junk are wrong squared. Making art out of everyday objects is about as obvious a thing an artist can do these days without suddenly contracting into a quantum singularity of unoriginality. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen people on T.V banging on about "Oh isn't it wonderful that we've found a use for all this junk!" and "Wow it really is clever the way you've used that discarded nappy to represent poverty!" and "Doesn't this junk look great!?". No, it doesn't look great. It looks like a disgusting length of copper tubing that someone has shoved into an old mattress to make some sort of crappy otter. Not bad, though. -8-.
