Thoughtfully sculpted. This may not be much of a compliment, but I believe it's better than any of mine.

Tibbs on Taller Girl by lastobelus 20 Mar 2003, 12:05 PM
this would be my edit: taller girl whirled her skirt in segregated circles drawing boundaries all around her with it, while her hair lashed out in little black laraits and, her long arms aloft, that skirt floated up towards them, wooshing out and drawing her space unusually wide, as she was unusually tall as if she could eclipse herself in it one drum and one guitar and then another and under her circling hair, her face comes, cover comes under that silken black and once more coming ?round with her hair flying up I saw furled brows and closed, black-lined eyes and a mouth turned down in studied oblivion; but another coming around had an opened eye and red upturned lips under the flying glimpse of hair, so that I saw that she saw that I saw her, and then she whirled away into the center until I saw only the fringe of her hair flying over the heads of all the others, and my moment, crushed under her stamping boots

the cockatrice who didn't care for artichokes i buried me eggs in the darkling sand i covered them well and fine i built a small fire to keep them warm at the edge of the lapping brine. i wandered on over to the local well i had me a dram or two i stumbled back out to me nest on the beach and who should i find, but you. i startled, i stumbled, i fumbled, i fell i looked into your eyes i saw the devil staring back and i was not surprised. i looked to my nest, i looked to my hope, i looked the stars above i saw a greasy frying-pan and mine eggs, the shells thereof! i screamed and i wailed! i fought, i flailed! i cursed you like the dickens! i sobbed and went limp and heard you say, "but dear, they tasted like chicken!"

The first two lines are horribly cliche. Then you dive right into the juvenile idea of some happy realm in the clouds were everything is lemonade and buttercups. Everything is pretty much the same after that. What are you trying to say? What is important here, new, insightful? You are terribly naive. Write something meaningful. Write something frightening, tell me something frank and risky about yourself, your faith. This is an easter greetings card, it's not about reality, or living this life. Or the struggle of being a christian for that matter. Personally, I am an atheist who loves Jesus more than anyone else, more than any other idea. Because of what he tries to teach me. Whether there is a god or not holds no bearing on what Jesus symbolizes. Love, charity, friendship. Infact if there is no god, and Jesus was just some gentle schitzophrenic, his life is that much more poignant. Is christ really as concerned with what happens to you after you die, as he is with how you live? Paul's the one who keeps going on about the rewards of the afterlife. I mean just for the sake of arguement read the sermon on the mount or any of the parrables but instead of thinking Jesus is talking about what awaits you when you're dead, read it in the context of Jesus telling you what awaits you now, while you're here in this life, if you follow his teachings. Not to judge, but to love. That is so fucking difficult. Look at me, I couldn't be nice to Ornella if you paid me(well maybe if you paid me), and the man I have loved deeply for 7 years just dumped me, and what do I want to do? Buy a gun and shot him because of the unbearable pain I'm his brought me. That's why I love Jesus, because he offers me salvation from being such a lousy selfish impulsive animal. He says to me, "Hey, what about love. What about treating these horrible people the way you'd want them to treat you"? Because I'm horrible too, intil I train myself not to be, and for me personally, the best teacher, the one it's easiest to understand, is Christ. That is all, that's why my faith in him is important. There is no afterlife. No heaven. No hell. Most christians interpret "The kingdom of god is at hand" as meaning the end is near. Maybe it means this place here, this only existence we can be sure of, could be the kingdom of god if we just did right by each other. I've read the bible hundreds of times. I read it every day. It's mostly a fairytale, but every myth has it's lesson. Don't let the lesson be that dying is better than living. That there is a place better than this place. This place is all we have, and we have it for such a short while. Don't imagine pearly gates or strive for distant stars. Imagine a simple contentment. Strive for a moment's peace. Don't let the lesson be that all those who don't believe as you have been taught, are doomed to eternal suffering. How arrogant, how stupid and childish and ungodly. I chose the name god'swife because it is such a ludicrous idea. As if there were a god, as if he had a wife. I cannot be god because I am female. The best I can do is marry well. I feel very tender feelings for you right now. I don't wish to shake your faith, but step outside your fence. Travel out to the edge of the wood, go in, find something better for yourself. Read the Gnostic gospels, read the gospel according to Thomas. Go to the desert and confront God. Did you know your Bible, the one you hold in your hands and take to church, was put together by a bunch of greedy, perverted catholic bishops? Think about that. Your sister in Christ.
