Poetry to me, isnt about skill it's about expressing yourself in a creative way. I've read through your poems and I really don't think you have any place to say my poem is "Not very good" before you tell me about my knowledge in writing go back and read some of the trash you have written. All writers have their good poems and bad poems...Yes Genius...Even you have bad poems whether you like to admit it or not.
*stares at super glue*
Damn K-4
He doesn't sound so, but of course you know.
Your characterization of me is childishly thought out. How do you know that the "I" in any of my poems is me talking, self-rightously as you accuse? I wrote a poem recently (maybe I'll post it) called My Wife, which tells of her insensitivity to a man's needs. As a married may, you may find my manly views either ace or dim, maybe self righteous. In another poem I said that I think heaven is a good expectation. You miss the point of the show-verses-tell arguement that keeps repeating here on Poemranker. A poem written in the first person often states a position, but not necessarily that of the poet. You tell me to put any views that I do not personally hold into the mouth of a "character." What if I do, and what if I don't? As near as I see, this simplistic evaluation of my work is all thay you have said. In case you're wondering, I write a silly poem once in a while because it's fun.
Some poets write their first-person only as views they truly hold. Over time, they instill in their readers a picture of themselves which can become quite accurate. Sometimes I wish for that, but not often. I could be a dog, a democrat, myself, or a self-rightous prude. Everyone is self-righteous.
Shut up.
lol
please tell me that was sarcasm. and I'm not angry at you, brittanyy, but the poem is just...not very good. you don't know that much about writing and it shows.
so, you are saying, "now you copulate in the flame" ?
It could be that the author is mocking the narrator or that the author is observing the narrator mocking another potential narrator. Either way there is someone who can not be taken at face value. Probably richa.
It seems to me that whoever felched up this outburst knew he was descending into farce when he said "haggis-eaters". In a sense, his 'petty hostility' was really just tongue-in-cheek. Of course I didn't hear the guy in person; do you think he should be taken at face value?
The poem is meant to be a portrait of a devolutionist rather than 'I' with my pet theory on why we should get rid of scotland.
As for the haggis bit. I don't really want to get rid of it (the poem is meant to descend into farce) but I may have to. I want there to be an underlying sense of petty hostility from the narrator.
You don't get 10s because you don't merit 10s. This is a really good poeme, and Brittanyy tried really hard. That's why she gets 10s - she goes that extra mile. You need to try a bit harder - I'm sure you'll get there in the end! -10-
Yea..You're probably right..Vodka is flamable tho right?
Yea..The funny thing is..I was drunk when I wrote this...And it shows! It shows!!!
Wow...Lol..So much anger..Don't get mad at me because your poems suck ass buddy...
I'm with richa. By the time you're vomiting, you're not ashamed of much of anything.
In all seriousness, I would spend less time worrying if I'd included enough polysyllables and more time fixing hack, overwrought and ungrammatical sentence structures. Like the repeated subjectless past tenses in the first stanza (including bonus mispunctuated last two lines!) Like "from... to" in the second stanza. Like the incomplete present-participled sentence in the third (and, bonus! more incorrect and missing punctuation!!!) Like "saying goodbye... to meet again", which sounds trite AND is hard grammar. Like comma-bound non sequitors throughout.
PS-Do you think there are seasons in the afterlife?
Don't be so surprised. And horus is more woman than you are.
I disagree. It's not necessarily for their farming, just that it would be ridiculously dark for them during a lot of the traditional workday, whatever they're doing. Living now in a mainly agriculutal sector (not to mention a desert which is only growable two or three months out of the year) I'd say they're probably still doing a lot.
Dropping haggis-eaters (or adding more) would make it better.
