Re: a comment on Mr. Stryker, Do You Really Want Some Kind of War? by cat 11-Aug-04/7:24 AM
Maybe it would have been better to say "INVERTEBRATE LOBSTERS".
Re: a comment on Mississippi Burnin. by SupremeDreamer 11-Aug-04/7:20 AM
Dear jroday,

Hi! I was just reading the comments on this poem, and couldn't help coming in your side. You're absolutely right; SupremeDreamer has never been within 2500 miles of Mississippi, has never met a non-Gay or non-hobo blackman, and has no right jumping your ass when he doesn't know what kind of shit your people been through. In addition, I thought I'd point out to him that the terms "politically correct" and "P.C." are older than his scraggly teenage ass and he's talking entirely out of his asshole. And finally, his blabber about "the pride in the song, not white pride mind you" is totally unjustified, considering who, what, and where he is. Even I, a white Southerner, wouldn't dare write a poem about, say, a drunk black blues picker from down Delta way (who, say, everyone thinks is trash except me) without first sealing up my asscrack to an unsanitary degree with extrastrength duck tape. It makes me sad to think about how, 150 years after Emancipation, we haven't come far enough to sit on a porch together drinking good watermelon wine from a shared gourd, but I guess thats the way it is. Now SupremeDreamer will probably give me shit about writing this comment too, so go ahead. Sorry about the slavery,

What are you talking about?

Do you mean Dr. Zeuss?
Re: a comment on Mr. Stryker, Do You Really Want Some Kind of War? by cat 11-Aug-04/6:58 AM
You're wrong about nearly everything. My username doesn't mean anything cool; it means something Gay. I'm married to a woman who is nothing like any of the people in any poem I've ever written except the one who drinks Chivas from the bottle. We live in Crackville, Jordan, Islamland, where I'm the farthest thing from underemployed, as just this morning I had to help my landlord birth a goat before catching the 8:30 bus (tassled fringe included) to a slightly larger hole than my usual one. That is absolutely true. It is the most common thing in the world to simply propose without any real basis that everyone who would bother posting poetry on a free website is a hopeless gay introvert except for onesself. I've never offered any excuse or justification on this matter except your Gay and I'm not. And I have a Master's in Poetry from an Accredited Poetry School. As of today I have read and voted on 3077 posts on this site, so I guess I'm adequately qualified to say what kind of repetitive self-obsessed muck is perpetrated every day here, while you're not. If you're going to continue hurling such childish insults as "Your five" and "your a hopeless Gay introvert" around this site, why don't you first try hitting the Random link at the top of this page and reading till your retinas detach, instead of parading your ignorance around here like a colossal Macy's balloon in the shape of meat? P.S., I don't really mean that you're any of these things; it's simply fun to call some ubersensitive illiterate teenager a colossal dim and watch him act sensitive and self-righteous in a slightly amusing way for a while and then leave. And even that's not very much fun anymore. So hey, thanks for having this great chat with me! I'll see ya around!

'Inveterate' seems a fine word choice. What's wrong with it?
Re: a comment on Mr. Stryker, Do You Really Want Some Kind of War? by cat 9-Aug-04/2:53 AM
I didn't post my list on your poem for any specific reason, just because it seemed like as convenient a place for a COMPLEATE LIST OF BUNCOMBE DODGES OF INVETERATE GUFFERS as any other. If I were at all inclined to publish any you-specifick list on your poem, it would probably be called THE COMPLEAT LIST OF COMMON MISTAKEN IDEAS ABOUT POEMRANKER AND ZODIAC MADE BY YOUNG USERS WITH SOMEWHAT INFLATED NOTIONS ABOUT THEMSELVES, and would consist of nothing but mansef recipes and ambiguously-titled links to Christian masturbation-ministry sites. You do the math.

The following, posted for your edufacation, are the Official Compleat Buncombe Dodges of Inveterate Guffers. Harken ye, etc., etc.

1) "My string of arbitrarily-linebroken abstract-to-the-max gobbles has caused you to question X or ponder X, whether or not that was my original intention, though now and forever hereafter I will say it was. I am a raging success at everything."

ADDENDUM TO 1) "I'm always pleasantly surprised at the variety of interpretations I get for the abovementioned, a.l.a.t.t.m.g.s, all of which are true (even though I hadn't thought of them) except the negative ones. I'm a fucking artistic genius."

3) "I meant for this poem to be bad. I'm a jester."

4) "I wrote this in only 15.5 seconds. Fuck you."

5) "I've read your poems and they all suck. Therefore, I'm immune to your criticism."

ADDENDUM TO 5) "I don't think we're at the same place, poetically speaking. This is because I'm better than you."

6) "You give no specifics."

7) [Some disingenuously positive response to the one positive comment on your poem, despite that the comment poster is a known dim.]

8) [Nothing.]

Dear Doug:

This is zodiac.

As is obvious from my big linked name posted at the top of this comment box.

You are dim. Is this how you think Real Professors communicate?

This has been zodiac speaking.

Thanks,
zodiac.
Re: a comment on Divorcing Tennessee by Dovina 21-Jul-04/7:26 AM
What silliness is this??? I'm not even talking about "structuralism", or any such thing! That's just what illiterates scream on poemranker when someone bothers to point that they can't put two words together in a meaningful fashion.

The rest of your comment has a serious case of dim.

PS-No.
Re: Divorcing Tennessee by Dovina 19-Jul-04/3:15 AM
After reading this poem, I find it hard to believe you know how to speak correctly, to say nothing of writing correctly.

Or else you've decided for some reason beyond my comprehension that written English follows entirely different rules from spoken English in terms of sense, syntax and whatnot - thusly indelibly marking yourself as the worst kind of dim.

Life must seem incredibly big and exciting to you. Does it?
Re: a comment on Nothingness of The illusion by Prince of Void 19-Jul-04/3:06 AM
Do you believe, along with the Great Philosopher, that the concept of infinity could not have been invented by Mankind, ergo God exists?
Re: a comment on Southern Mississippii Standstill by wilco 19-Jul-04/3:03 AM
The Southern US is exactly like Jordan, which is exactly like Northern Mexico, which is actually like any Northern UK mining town or any town at all in Wales.
Re: a comment on Sacrament by Dovina 19-Jul-04/2:57 AM
Yes, we are.
Re: a comment on Sacrament by Dovina 19-Jul-04/2:56 AM
Wherever have you gotten the notion that everybody is going to attack a poem that 'fails utterly in its blah blah blah?' Since joining this site, you've gotten everything about poetry totally wrong. Aside from the vast majority of would-be poeticks who attack anything which isn't free-form and abstract to the point of utter meaninglessness, there is a small group of people bright or misguided enough to attack any poem which uses literary references and "accepted poetic devices" (whatever you mean by that) in an extraordinarily dim fashion. I am one of those people. I also often attack poems that make no sense, including almost every poemranker poem I've ever read.
Re: a comment on Sacrament by Dovina 17-Jul-04/8:36 AM
I believe he thinks anything which is not intoned in a soporific semi-circular fashion with an appropriate mixture of silence, "Music provided by Youth Minister Dan", and hot humid air is blasphemous.
Re: a comment on Vows by QuirkyWonder 13-Jul-04/3:36 AM
That's because you are in many ways dim. No offense intended. Most people are probably dim at at least one thing.

PS- Comedies don't ascend. They revolve. Thanks.
Re: a comment on Searching by dougsoderstrom 13-Jul-04/3:30 AM
You show a great gift for being able to forget when you have opened quotes. Keep up the good work!!!!
Re: a comment on Searching by dougsoderstrom 13-Jul-04/3:26 AM
I don't believe it's fair to real professors for you to continue to refer to yourself as a professor. Please stop.
