Very clever how in every second stanza the rhyme isn't true.

A house is a house is a house, An ended thing an' black. But why not "and" and "B"?
Dovina replying on An Even Better God by wilco 28 Oct 2004, 6:34 PM
Flimsy. That said, remember that just because posting doesn't necessarily mean you haven't been on the ranker, failing to log in might.

100% it seems.

What are the chances tha yours and Horus8's houses both burned down and are posted as poems on the same day? Wonder...
wilco replying on An Even Better God by wilco 28 Oct 2004, 5:13 PM
Flimsy explanation: I've really just been too busy with the new job to get any writing done. Good enough? That said, remember that just because I haven't been posting doesn't necessarily man I havn't been on the ranker.

Lord Byron couldn't tackle a cane that part timed as an opium pipe with a pair of birch tits carved into it. But I agree with you on your other observations.

What makes you think you can slither away without a word, and come waltzing back a month later without so much as a flimsy explanation. I'm melted by "special thanks" though and can only say, Welcome Back. This is a very funny take-off on "A Better God" and also quite profound if you want to open discussions on whether such a god exists, and if so, whether he sends hurricanes, earhtquakes and plagues in anger. Your last two lines pretty well sum up where such discussions end.

This "darkangel" is a literary genius. Leave him alone. He's clearly a bummer with no friends. Apart from his poetry. Which is incredible and should be published. I assume you draw on some of the poetic greats of years gone by. If Byron were alive today, I truly believe that he would be tackling these very issues.

I actually meant him to sound like the Devill in the Charlie Daniels Band song "The Devil Went Down on Georgie," which I don't actually recall ever having heard.
A real Master wouldn't have used "affect" as a nown. He would have used "effect". Nice catch!

I'm glad to see you writing again. I wish you'd spend as much time writing as you do attempting to make Poemranker newbies feel bad about themselves. You're not half bad, is what I'm trying to say.

OOOOH, I do feel good. I love life. PERIOD. And I don't have a problem w/ you personally. OH, WAIT, who are you? I mean you give me so many 0's w/ so many people I just don't know. Sometimes I just want to go thro' the list and just retaliate. Is my poetry that BAD? I mean 00000? I have never IN MY LIFE read a poem that was worth nothing. NEVER. Every poem ever written whether by poe or wadsworth or shelley or me is worth something< EH?

nice job. when God is speaking it reminds me of a band named mewithoutYou. i found this interesting since they are christian band. it evokes good emotions and pulls the reader in. very nice.
Title sounds like a master's thesis. "hands on my heart" - like it. S2 - why not leave out the The"'s? "beloved" sounds archaic in this context.
Dovina on Alone by rrashi 27 Oct 2004, 1:40 PM
Beware of the ten-vote and the opposite comment. Too many commas. "Smell filled with perfume" is wordy and redundant. "happy and rejoiced" sounds funny. To feel one with nature is to use a cliche. Some good ideas needing better words.
