Anytime I can set two poems before someone and hear him say that only one of them he’s just not feelin’, well, that’s a good day. Thanks for honesty. Have your visited http://poemranker.com/poem-details.jsp?id=111772 lately? By the way, when a peregrine falcon swoops toward its prey at close to 200 mph, it follows a curve known as a logarithmic spiral. The shortest path, of course, would be a straight one, but since a falcon's eyes are opposed on either side of its head, straight flight would require the bird to cock its head to keep the prey in sight. Nature loves the logarithmic spiral. From sunflowers, seashells and whirlpools to hurricanes and spiral galaxies, we see this form at all scales. Encoded within the logarithmic spiral is perhaps the most mystical of all numbers, phi, approximately 1.61803.

Shouldn't "the clench of my hand" be " I clench his hard gland?"
Dan garcia-Black on Solitude by Dovina 14 Sep 2004, 12:00 AM
Why do we choke on "a spiral in Phi?" Pray tell, what does it mean Phi not Pi? -9- for being alone in your "phi-ness."
Just knock up a neighbor's daughter. You'll be paying for that mistake the rest of your life.

Is your argument that if it weren't for the trivial fact that smoking is scientifically proven to kill you and everyone around you, smoking would be entirely good while nonsmoking would be somehow less-than-entirely good; and science is bunk anyway and proven by yogis to be the opposite of true every time? Congratulations! 100 points!
Blue Magpie on Solitude by Dovina 13 Sep 2004, 10:02 PM
Dear Dovina, While this is obviously a pretty picture the language usage does not appear to be very poetic to meeither in its use of metaphor etc, or in its imagery presentation, and there is not rhyme or rhythm. "A picture in Phi" what does this offer us phi "Φ" being the 21st letter of the Greek alphabet, the Greek equivalent of "F", a circle with a line through it, doesn't inspire me with images relevent to seashells or hermit crabs or solitude. So I am sorry but I just don't see the poetry here, just prose.

I rather like "They make me glad". Pure simplicity. Thats the way I like it.
Intrigue. Shortness. -8-

You probably won't get this unless you've been in a Marching Band before. And if you haven't, I hope that this poem helps paint a picture.

Naughty, which is kind of nice. I think though, that this kind of thing is better said with a less graphic tone. Not that I'm trying to say that i'm offended or anything. I just think it would be a better poem for it.
