I was tripping shrooms while writing this, so it isn't that great, but I try

I love it. There are far too many poetry snobs and pedants on this site. I say fuck poetry.

I fail to see the connection between the two limericks, but I do not see a real need for connection... after all we can only post every 2 days. Funny limericks.

I love subtlety and I find the use of semicolons to accent the meaning of the words a perfect fit. Incredible imagery. *10* This is my favorite poem in a while.

One small problem. Nothing too big. The mother's son is only four and he's strapped in the passengers seat. My God, this woman IS reckless! Also, might not be acting in too many preschool plays! Overall a moving poem. *8*

This poem expresses your feeling. As the arguement goes between this and presenting an enjoyable poem, I tend toward correctness and understandability, but I think this needs a lettle help in the prose dept. Good feelings like these are worthy of a little more care on the presentation. For what it's worth.

... FIRST WE WITNESSED THE BIRTH OF AN IDEA ... 29-Mar-04/7:57 AM: "I don't mean poets shouldn't try to write about those things, but they would have to be more careful doing it than, say, writing about ducks with AIDS or appropriate beard materials for homemade Negro Jesuses, since so many people have written about Love and so on before and hardly anyone has written about ducks and Jesuses - sadly." ... THEN WE WERE GIVEN TEASINGLY CRYPTIC PROMISES ... 21-Apr-04/7:47 PM: "The best title in ages is "Beard My Homemade Negro Jesus", coming soon to poemranker!" ... AGAIN WE HEARD RUMOURS OF THE IMPENDING MASTERWORK ... 22-Apr-04/5:02 PM: "I think Justin would be more impressed if you wrote poems about non-Justin things for a change, like Beard Materials for Homemade Negro Jesuses. No offense, just my opinion, etc etc etc etc etc." ... AND NOW, AFTER MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS WRESTLING TO BREAK FREE FROM THE GILDED HARNESSE OF COMMON DECENCY, THE POEME OF THE YEAR HAS BEEN UNLEASHED ...

Again, I'm sorry, but the title seems unjust to your story. And why not include egret/regret somehow? - I liked that. It's a good, sad story everyone can understand, so why not a dignified title?

Funny. hate is like cold - ok, maybe more like cold than its usual hot descriptor.

needs a bit of a hint as to what woman we are dealing with here. mom? sis? girlfriend? other? It is worthy of the effort.

Re: Lorca's Terrible Presence (Edit) by Sasha zodiac 67.240.192.43 5-May-04/5:07 PM
You'd do Lorca's rhythm better if you wrote something more like: I want the white water to rest with no bed I want for the wind to be left without dells You might at least go 12-syllabic. I see you've (roughly) done it later on, but the first two lines are glaringly off-beat. And the trick of expanding the english line with _____ and/or _____ at the end three stanzas in a row kind of shows. And Lorca punctuated throughout, hijo. And my one other criticism: you might consider an exciting writer for once. How's your Russian? Some recent Russian poets are totally ace.
