The last line appeals muchly to me as a good Canadian. The one line I don't like -- and I dislike it quite strongly -- is "but I lost my voice when you lost yours" It's a cliche in an otherwise quite original depiction of remembering a lost mate. And your narrator just doesn't strike me at all as someone who's lost her voice. It jars.

You have an uncanny insight into the minds of assistant producers. And if I change it, rockmage will probably up his vote. Hmmm...

I tried to find something to nitpick on this pome, but I can't (I'm not sure why I'm the only one who thinks it's a 10) Last line is killer. Ok, I found my nitpick, but it's only a personal preference: I prefer wouldn't to couldn't. I think your narrator's more a wouldn't leave than a couldn't leave.

I just sent it. Hit me back to let me know if you got it.

henh? at the current rate of voting -- and assuming no more ranking wars broke out twixt the eversquabbling inmates -- it would take years for the best & worst lists to stop showing the hendrinos/rockmage/cristallaneswift effect. (That's not in any way intended as a comment on the quality of your pomes, which I consider to be high.)
what do you mean by 'form'? and what is its name?

of course, now I see that it was from a different isp..are there two dark angel's? If so, my bad. I apologize even more. :D

Nance: sure.

no, I'm not standing up for the regulars. Nobody needs to stand up for DA, he's like a fucking descendant of Oscar Wilde. I'm pointing out that there is a tremendous amount of skill with language demonstrated here that you, or I, or most would find difficult to equal irregardless of whether we were writing about logs of shit or the frangible beauty of first love in springtime in Paris. Oh, and just for the fuck of it I was also amusing myself by embedding the name of the form of this pome (it does have a name) in my comment.

zodiac...nope, not at all. It's an MSN group/workshop, a private one which you have to apply to join. Recommendations help. You've definitely got mine lol. It does require a rather extensive submissions package to get in (to judge both talent and more importantly your ability to give and receive critique, which you seem fine with from what I've seen here.) Is the email address you have listed here valid? If so, I'll email you again shortly with the details. If not let me know where to send it. Nance

darkangel..okay that soapbox comment was a bit out of line. I said it cuz i figured you'd get all pissy about my 'utterly ridiculous' comment (which i still have to stand by, sorry, lol). That assumption was based on the whole 'i hate you i hate you i hate you' thing i got from you my first time here because you didn't agree with a suggestion I made to someone else. Figured i'd get something similar here :D But I apologize, i'll keep it to the poetry. Lasto..hmm...um, yeah, I believe I did acknowledge that it was humorous. I just couldn't take it seriously enough. Way to stand up for the regulars though. You're doing great.

actually, I must confess this is one of my old ones. And also one of my favourites. I have started reading some Heaney, and I like his quiet. I realized after watching Lost in Translation how tired I've become of hyperbole and peril. I've been writing some plotless prose lately. No peril, no metaphorical thwacks on the side of the head. You know hemingway's famous fishing short story, guy comes back from the war and goes fishing? That kind of thing. I'm thinking about the S1.L5 comment. It's an interesting observation. How do you feel about "and the sky touches down the brim of my hat" or "and the sky nudges down the brim of my hat"? I wrote this as a stealth pome -- something I knew would do well busking (I sold a wack of plaques of this pome) -- but that had semi-covert meaning for me. I respectfully invite you to have another look at S.3 and see if you can find some density of meaning there. But if you do, leave the 9! I ain't grubbing for more vote, dangit.

Nance: Sure I'd be interested. Do I have to pay?

ah. i sent you one like a week ago or so to the address you had listed here asking if you'd be interested in an online writer's workshop. I think you'd be good there. Some talented writers and honest, detailed critique/feedback. And ah. that was in response to one of the dark angel's "i hate you i hate you blah blah blah" cuz they didn't agree with a suggestion i made to someone else my first time here. kinda immature, no? But yeah i'll keep my comments to the poetry. heh.

HA! I just looked at the top 20 - yep. That's a little skewed! But I figure there's a few that actually deserve to be up there. The ones that are there, if they are not among the best on poemranker, they are, at least, the best that I can muster (though I personally wouldn't put them in that particular order). It will correct itself and I'll maybe have a couple few left there.

Touch my heaney.
Shuushin replying on Something's gone wrong by zodiac 5 Feb 2004, 3:03 PM
(i fixed the zero, heheh) and I'm on the best list because, quite simply, I am one of the best here. *Certainly* one of the top 20.

Cute -0- Shuushin. Also cute how thanks to Jeremi you're 8 out of the top 10.

Not up to par?! This is the best (or maybe second best) thing I've written ever, not to mention that I've posted on this site! And the rhyme, as they say, is fuckin ace! I haven't been cocky in my self-promotion here, but Jesus - I'd just like to see you make more than a one-line commentary on this. Where should one word of this have been changed? Where could another idea be crammed in?? I spent a whole drunk morning caressing this to orgasm. You gave "Something's gone wrong" a 9 and this an 8??? I really hope you come back to it after making your rounds. And see that -=DA=- doesn't catch you on your way. He digs the uniform.

Well-written. You created your own form, huh. Impressive. Really. Nice job.
