Ha--Garrett, there's some funny shit here. Might be even more effective if you carried the meter from the first stanza into each stanza--some of the changes would be pretty easy (o flat chested Annie, she'd take anyone's money/and anyone's honey she'd be . . . and always worked best [in] a crowd, etc.), some would take a little more work, but it'd read more like the ballad it seems to want to be. "Her arse was her fanny"--meh. Liked this.

Nice allusion to Poe. It didn't really need the repeated verse at the end. Maybe it would be better if you did half a repeated verse, then changed the second half to give us more info.
Yawn. How about a deeper look?

Bad science is bad. There is an army scientist who has spoken up about the dangers of depleted uranium, and he is pointing out the relationship between DU and the sickness reported by veterans of the first Gulf War. But again, you are refering to the army as if it were one person with one set of thoughts.

I like the new ending, it is a little less obvious and cliche than grabbing the wheel. However, I don't know about this bilging business. My dictionary (which may or may not be inadequate) says that the verb form of bilge means 1)to become damaged in the bilge (which is, in noun form, the bulging part of a cask or barrel) or 2) to rest on the bilge. I think you need something more like purge, ablute, or pass, like passing a parasitic worm.
Eww.. both of those are maxed out, will you except my Discover?
Indeed, and thank you. It's good to know you care and are still sucking air. Be well.

the army obviously doesn't care about depleted uranium because they have published reports claiming it has no effect on the health of the soldiers. Now don't go telling me this is why science is bad. Bad science doesn't make science bad.

Thanks. I'd like to think that I've grown with every poem I've posted, but this is really a new spurt I guess. Thanks again.
Yeah.. he writes better stoned retarded than what you can cough out smoking Selegiline laced zig-zag wrapped tabacky chemical fumes can poison the lungs and while horus puffs on wacky mary you'll be a science project a free enviromental lab stiff them university slackers kept laughin at that frozen death mask, which looked much like a washed up salmon lips a deep purplish blue the infamous painted hue that is the trademark indication of suicide. A background report of this ghost suggests that his lack of imagination was what drove him to suffocate humanity rejoices in his death that left him unable to procreate. thankfully in failure he managed to serve a purpose, as he is displayed refrigerated, in the human hall of evolution. Smoke that SuckyHoe, im sure you know how to hold your breath.

I'm not sure anything on either side of the pond makes much sense anymore. But, what do I know. I'm just a blue collar brute poorly passing myself off as a poetic pansy. Ha!

S-4 obviously. and the last line can lose (amongst) and simplify and still be ok.

The only thing I changed was (cloisonne). To make the chasm prettier, more attractive to fall into. But still it's lacking alot. Maybe after the weekend I'll tear into it and do a ground-up workover.
Bunny, this is your best work that I have seen since I've been on here. You actually seem to have "grown" with this one. Nice solid sentences, refreshingly void of vanity. This is your new benchmark. Congrats!!
EAger to Offend on I An Anew (re edit) by scitz 8 Aug 2003, 4:03 PM
Might I suggest "Caught in the lattice of redemption," as lattice implies crossed slats... Title; I Am Anew. ...even though it's acctually my least favourite part of this work.
