All of these descriptions apply to most animals in the wild. The only place they don't look like that is in zoos, where we gussy them up like underage Melbourne hookers according to our idea of what Nature's all about. Concerning the "metaphor": Yes.

I'd like you to consider the following tidbit: My wife currently works in the Islam village of Ghowar, which, as it happens, is built on the Biblical towns of Sodom and Gomorrah. ONE OUT OF EVERY FOUR children there has a major mental disability, caused by massive inbreeding, crushing poverty, and the continuing wrath of Christ Our God a MILLION YEARS after the fact.

I disagree. Secularism will be victorious, but only because secularism's SO FUCKING COOL. Take, for example, the internet cafe I'm sitting in now, where ten out of ten Islams are currently viewing different kinds of American hardcore porn. The appearance of an Arab-Western culture war (which is really big here, incidentally, despite porn-viewing) is bound to lead to some reactionary fundamentalism. In fact, it apparently already is. Twenty years ago, something like a tenth of the Muslim women in Jordan covered their heads. Today it's nine-tenths. Even given that part of that is the result of Jordanians returning from the Gulf after the first Gulf War, that's still a pretty big shift to the right. I figure it'll be followed by an even bigger slide to the left within a few years, provided the Middle East isn't simply swallowed by the earth for its colossal dimness, like it should be. I mean, Western Culture FUCKING RULES, am I right??!? IT'S A FUCKING STEAMROLLER, MAN!!!!

Wrong again. My insults (with the exception of your being an extremely failed thirty year old woman, which remains to be seen,) are grounded in poemranker users' poems and comments. Yours are grounded in nothing but your swelling desire to cry and kick things. This is what you've failed to get in all of this babble about internet flamers, aristocracy, and 'hopeless gay introverts.' Probably because getting it would require you to check yourself before you wreck yourself, while assuming we're simply arbitrary poet-assaulters is easy and gratifying. Besides, "This is a site for reading and critiquing POEMS, not for hurling around unfounded personal attacks and groundless suggestions" is the most splendid jape of 1997.

For example, they are likely to be poorly educated, uncouth luddites. Mechanics work with their hands, not their brains. What little intelligence they do posses will probably be concentrated in the Cockney Song Department, rather than the Super Literacy Bassoon. Of course truck drivers would have to be semi-literate so they could read sign posts, but that's hardly sufficient qualification to consider soiling with world with your stultifyingly ill-conceived attempts at poetry. In my experience mechanics, truck drivers and builders are brash, unintellectual drones, and if they ever do write something, it will almost certainly be obscenely childish, and scrawled in crayon. I'm sorry but that's just the way I feel.

So did you visit my poems to analyse it and give a honest comment or just take out your spite coz' I said your poem isn't classy?? Do read my profile, I never claimed to write well. I know my poetry sucks. Besides, English is NOT my language and I am just 17. I just told you what I felt about your poem, I didn't take out any personal grudges. I am open to criticism but it should be done in a positive way, not insulted.

I can't speak for a car mechanic or a truck driver, but I see no reason for them not to be able to write poetry. It could be a way of escaping what,to some, seems a humdrum existence. I can tell you that I didn't start writing until after I took up sculpture some nine years ago. I believe the creativity of sculpting released in me a need to explore creativity in a different form, poetry. My very first poem was about my father who died at the age of 49 years with a miner's lung disease. It proved to me that poetry is very much about emotion. No matter what we do for a living there is a poem deep within, knowing how to release it is the problem for most people.
