My childhood was far from idyllic, yet there is nothing wrong with my IQ - it's just a shade under 98 which is well within the normal range. I've worked hard despite the hardships I've faced, and I'm proud of the fact that while my upbringing may have been materially underprivileged, at least I had intellect and could entertain myself with my own creative thoughts and emotions. 113, you say? I had no idea you were so gifted. I look forward to more of your poetry.

Grendal - Do you really think using racially derogatory terms makes your insults more substantial? I'm afraid it only reflects your own inability to form a concise insult. Really, please discontinue your degradation of the white population, with verbal attacks against the black population. I'm tired of cleaning up for messes like yourself. It's really getting old.
BTW - clusure, is spelled closure and it appears that dispite your perspective of our friend here, he can at least spell. So honor us that much before you attack someone else.

109? Haha. I have a 113 and I grew up in the trailer park next to your bad side of town, so I could care less where you're from. The only thing giant about you is your head and you're the one who started shit with me dickless_mystery. It's not my fault you can't stop licking the tip of my poetic dick and calling it criticism. Try being polite from time to time and see how much further that takes you, instead of acting like some freaking snob from cherry tree park. If you have an opinion about my work, that's one thing, but if you think I'm going to sit back and let you rudely insult me out of spite for your own self pity, you can forget it. I came to this site to share my poetry with other poets and other than Darky, I attacked no one first. I don't appreciate you or any of these other pompous pricks thinking they can just push around the little guy. So you think I'm backing down just because you THINK you're smarter than me, you can forget it! -- OOPs, I'm sorry, is this paragraph to, "Massive," for you? Maybe you should stick to reading Dr. Seuss and I'll leave you alone. Btw, do you feel better about yourself every time you insult someone else? Sure sign of insecurity, if you ask me. It's ok though, I understand. As long as you feel better.
That depends on what you consider to be a gangster.
This was a story told to me by a guy at the bar I work at. Didn't think I'd catch so much flack. Geez. It's a prose poem. Thanks for looking, though.
That's right Dave, slurp it up. You know you can't get enough.
Hey - what kind of sonnet is this? You is funnin' me, right?? Is this why you are called "mysterious"?
Teach me something.
Kew Gardens, New York?
I'm stuck by "Phillips stick-sole" - is that a type of rubber sole, like Vibram? As an aside, I was watching "Enterprise", and as the aliens climbed the ladder I could see the bottoms of their boots and that orange oval "Vibrams"; oops.
Only a couple of the rhymes seemed forced (first felt it with "shutters", "boggies" a bit too). I bet you could firm up the last quatrain.
At any rate, it is a very fun one. How on earth did you come up with it? I mean, "shoe hole" isn't exactly a common idea.

It's a Vilanelle alright - Poe would like it; i likes it.
Go for the Sestina. Do it. Do it now before all the ideas get used up!!
How true - catasetums are short and stocky. Strange that I would characterize them as I have. Another apparent inconsistency (and interesting fact) is that catasetums have both male and female flowers, and it is only the male flower that has the ability to rocket its pollen sack (up to eight feet away from the plant!). Why 'Orchidess' then?
I was confused at the beginning for a while about who was the cat and who the dog, and how the dog got back out (?) to flip the body of the headless squirrel around. I think you ought to describe the neighbor more than to just say "overweight" because that could mean so many different things and didn't provoke any mental image for me of what he/she looks like.
I read the
whole
thing and as
I neared the end I
began to panic,
because I could
feel my time
to make some sense
of it all
running out.
It does however, have some engaging language in the flashback about the garden - that's a nice snapshot.
Nice work. However, I saw a picture of a Catasetum that looked short and stocky, rather than smooth and slender. The smooth and slender/spiralling tendrils reminds me more of the ghost orchid in that movie, "Adaptation". What did the French "la Fleur" add to the poem?
Doesn't the fourth line have one too many syllables? Apart from that, a modern masterpiece.
14 according to horus's league of excellence.
